Bikes n Bites – BoxPark

Bikes n Bites – BoxPark

Have you been to Boxpark?

BikesnBites

After visiting St. Mary’s church on Christmas Day, I dragged the whole gang to BoxPark in Al Wasl Road for late lunch. This new ‘pop-up’ mall is made of shipping containers and near City Walk. BoxPark has quirky dining options from around the world in a hip, modern setting appealing to residents who want to experience something different. It has some retails outlets and pocket parks for kids and kids at heart to enjoy.

HYU Korean Restaurant – Dubai

HYU Korean Restaurant – Dubai

I asked my son where he wanted to have lunch on his birthday and he was confused between Chili’s and Hyu Korean restaurant. Chili’s because he loves their kid’s mac n’ cheese and the kid’s pizza. In Hyu, it is their deep fried chicken with sweet sauce.

Finally, he decided to have his birthday lunch at Hyu so we went there yesterday to celebrate. Hyu is a Korean restaurant tucked away somewhere in Oud Metha. It’s not fine dining for sure but I would say that dishes are authentic. Not that I’ve been to Korea before but judging from lots of Korean eating whenever we visit, it is a good sign. (more…)

Saturday’s 10 Happy Things // 2

Saturday’s 10 Happy Things

Always practice gratitude. Be thankful every day. For grand and simple things. For work, life, safety, food and family. For the sun, rain, penny in your pocket, and for a good hair day. Even when things are not going as planned, still be grateful. Here is when I/we share the things that let us appreciate the past week and let us welcome the coming week with a fresh and happy attitude!

How can I post something talking about Saturdays when it’s already Sunday? Well, better late than never, right? This is my way of writing something when I really don’t feel like writing anything. (more…)

I always preach gratitude. To be thankful every day. For grand and simple things. For work, life, safety, food and family. For the sun, rain, penny in your pocket, and for a good hair day. Even when things are not going as planned, still be grateful.

So I thought of blogging 10 good things that made me happy this week. Just like most people, going back to office from a weekend is quite tough (on this part of the world, week starts on a Sunday) so what better way to perk us up than to remember the good things that happened this week. (more…)

I always say that Dubai residents are quite spoiled for dining choices. It never runs out of options in terms of cuisine and price range. Most famous restaurants and cafes all around the world come here and open a branch. Before you know it, these international restaurants that we’re just hearing from social media or other bloggers suddenly offers their famous dishes in our Emirate. Lucky Dubai residents! (more…)

Breakfast at The Sum of Us

We went to The Sum of Us last weekend to try their breakfast. It’s our first time to visit the restaurant and have no idea what to expect. I didn’t read any reviews which I usually do before venturing out to new dining place. I just accepted my brother-in-law’s invite who happens to be the Chef de Partie of TSOU (Hi Richard!) and my sister’s friend, Cris, who is the Head Chef of the place. (more…)

Sumo, Sushi & Bento

Sumo, Sushi & Bento

I find it amusing how I never thought of blogging about our dining experiences at Sumo, Sushi & Bento. As a family, we dine here regularly and it’s our go-to Japanese restaurant. I always tell people it’s real value for money and they should try it. How I wish there’s Sumo somewhere near my place, I could be there every week. (more…)

Bodega Streetfood

I saw the Bodega Streetfood sponsored ad on Facebook and I know I have to try it. Inviting the whole gang, we went there yesterday afternoon. The restaurant is located near Copthorne Hotel in Deira near Day to Day store. It’s right beside Dampa Seafood restaurant. Actually, from what I heard, Dampa and Bodega belong to the same company (or has the same owner?) and that’s the reason I guess why, when we were there, diners of Dampa were sitting on outside area of Bodega and Bodega staff don’t mind.  (more…)

Bennigan’s

I think it has been my habit lately to eat out on Thursday nights. It’s like my mini welcome to the great weekend ahead! This time, I asked my sister, Jholen, to dine with me. And as you know, I’m always making a point to use our Entertainer vouchers just to get the most of the book before it expires. Of course we went to our favorite go-to mall, Sahara Centre.

It’s a choice between Russo and Bennigan’s. I’ve never dined in Russo but Jholen haven’t tried Bennigan’s and as a very good sister, I gave way. Bennigan’s it is. (more…)

Red Lobster

Gibson and Joseph received an SMS from Foot Locker that there was a buy-one-get-one offer in their Dubai Mall branch. Being both rubber shoes addict enthusiast, they wanted to go to the Dubai Mall and just “look around”. To cut the story short, they were frustrated that the items offered on sale are not the ones they really like to purchase. Gibson was sad but I’m quite relieved. I thought he had quite a number of shoes already so I don’t get it why he needs another to add on his collection. Anyways, that’s another topic for some other time.

We went there around 12 noon. Just in time for lunch and we decided to eat at Red Lobster which is on Lower Ground along the line of restaurants on that floor.  (more…)
