Sumo, Sushi & Bento
I find it amusing how I never thought of blogging about our dining experiences at Sumo, Sushi & Bento. As a family, we dine here regularly and it’s our go-to Japanese restaurant. I always tell people it’s real value for money and they should try it. How I wish there’s Sumo somewhere near my place, I could be there every week.
After our Jebel Hafeet and Green Mubazzarah adventure last UAE National Day, as if we were not tired enough, we went to Town Centre in Jumeirah where there’s a branch of Sumo, Sushi & Bento for dinner. We were quite a big group and everyone just ordered what they wanted.
First, let me share with you the menu.
Here’s what our group ordered. Being a regular here, I know each and every dish we ordered and tasted them all. No kidding.
We always order the Tom Yum Soup. Very very nice. Must try!
I love this Avocado Maguro which has chunks of tuna and avocado that comes with some kind of peanut sauce.
Hubby’s order everytime. Samurai – shrimp tempura and crabstick roll, lightly topped with salmon, avocado, cream cheese and mayo.
Thinking that we need healthy vegetables, I ordered some vegetable tempura. I know! 🙂
My cousin Shayne didn’t enjoy this Japanese Curry Katsu but I love it! I think it’s an acquired taste. And she was expecting Thai curry flavor. Duh!
Gyoza Ramen. Pan-fried chicken dumplings served over egg noodles in a soy based soup. Biel’s favorite and I always have her leftover.
Tempura Bento which has shrimp and vegetable tempura and chicken teriyaki.
And would you believe that the dishes I just mentioned were only for our family (Gibson, Cole, Biel and me)? Sometimes I’m also amazed of our talent.
The rest of our group ordered similar dishes and here’s some of them.
Crispy outside, tender squid rings inside. Perfect with the accompanying dip.
Yakisoba with shrimp, chicken and vegetables
Salmon Teriyaki Bento. You have a choice between chicken teriyaki or ginger tofu as sides.
Chili Prawn Bento, again with chicken teriyaki (but you can select ginger tofu as sides)
Sumo fried rice special with shrimp and chicken.
We received some complimentary dishes. Sorry, but I forgot to ask the dishes names.
This is fruity, sweet Japanese inspired desert.
Didn’t get the chance to taste this but it was gone as soon as it hits the table so I guess it’s good.
Their manager, Lloyd, is very nice and welcoming. Go and tell him that Filipina Expat recommended this place. He should give you a discount! 🙂
I have to end this post with a pretty picture of my baby!
