HYU Korean Restaurant – Dubai

HYU Korean Restaurant – Dubai

I asked my son where he wanted to have lunch on his birthday and he was confused between Chili’s and Hyu Korean restaurant. Chili’s because he loves their kid’s mac n’ cheese and the kid’s pizza. In Hyu, it is their deep fried chicken with sweet sauce.

Finally, he decided to have his birthday lunch at Hyu so we went there yesterday to celebrate. Hyu is a Korean restaurant tucked away somewhere in Oud Metha. It’s not fine dining for sure but I would say that dishes are authentic. Not that I’ve been to Korea before but judging from lots of Korean eating whenever we visit, it is a good sign. Being a good mother

Being-a-good-mother

I know. Writing and reading this post might be too dramatic to start our 2016. But as I said, welcoming the new year brings some kind of sentimentality. We congratulate ourselves for surviving the previous year and at the same time looking forward to a better 12 months ahead. We reflect on things that we will try and hope to achieve.

I think I’ve mentioned this hundred times before that my life-long dream is to be a stay-at-home mom or ideally a working-from-home mom so I can take care of the kids full time.  Continue reading →

The benefits of toy blocks and construction toys

The benefits of toy blocks and construction toys

My son wrote to Santa that he wanted Trash Pack, Jurassic World dinosaur toy and Lego Ninjago for Christmas. I know that he will receive the first two from his uncle and aunt so I’m asking the hubby if we should give our almost 9-year old the Lego. Continue reading →

Saturday’s 10 Happy Things // 2

Saturday’s 10 Happy Things

Always practice gratitude. Be thankful every day. For grand and simple things. For work, life, safety, food and family. For the sun, rain, penny in your pocket, and for a good hair day. Even when things are not going as planned, still be grateful. Here is when I/we share the things that let us appreciate the past week and let us welcome the coming week with a fresh and happy attitude!

How can I post something talking about Saturdays when it’s already Sunday? Well, better late than never, right? This is my way of writing something when I really don’t feel like writing anything. Continue reading →

Saturday’s 10 Happy Things

I always preach gratitude. To be thankful every day. For grand and simple things. For work, life, safety, food and family. For the sun, rain, penny in your pocket, and for a good hair day. Even when things are not going as planned, still be grateful.

So I thought of blogging 10 good things that made me happy this week. Just like most people, going back to office from a weekend is quite tough (on this part of the world, week starts on a Sunday) so what better way to perk us up than to remember the good things that happened this week. Breakfast at The Sum of Us

We went to The Sum of Us last weekend to try their breakfast. It’s our first time to visit the restaurant and have no idea what to expect. I didn’t read any reviews which I usually do before venturing out to new dining place. I just accepted my brother-in-law’s invite who happens to be the Chef de Partie of TSOU (Hi Richard!) and my sister’s friend, Cris, who is the Head Chef of the place. Continue reading →

Sumo, Sushi & Bento

Sumo, Sushi & Bento

I find it amusing how I never thought of blogging about our dining experiences at Sumo, Sushi & Bento. As a family, we dine here regularly and it’s our go-to Japanese restaurant. I always tell people it’s real value for money and they should try it. How I wish there’s Sumo somewhere near my place, I could be there every week. Continue reading →

I’m a firm believer of Law of Attraction. Basically, it is the philosophy that like attracts like. Whatever you focus on, may it be positive or negative, will happen. If you’re a positive person, positive things happen to you. if you dwell on negative thoughts, then don’t be surprised that everything goes downhill. Instead of thinking “It’s difficult” or “I don’t have money” or “It’s impossible”, focus on phrases such as “I’m grateful”, “I love my life” and “Everything is possible” because it is.  Continue reading →
