There’s Jolly Jeep in Dubai!
Today is Filipino foodtrip kind of day for us. The whole gang braved Karama and head straight to Ansar Gallery to try two Filipino eateries which are very well known back home. We had light meals first at Tapa King and went after to Jolly Jeep to have a taste of Filipino street food we missed. I’ll post my Tapa King experience later. For now, I’ll share how we enjoyed Jolly Jeep.
You’ll find Jolly Jeep at Ansar Gallery in Karama. It’s my first time to visit this ‘mall’. I’m not sure if it’s actually a mall or just a department store with eateries inside. Well, whatever it is, I would like to request their management to put tissues and liquid soaps in the toilets. Small things but make a big impression to visitors. Thanks!
Anyways, we didn’t go there to go for the toilet. We were there to eat, and to eat a lot! I told you how my stomach expands during weekends, right? I’m glad to report that my tummy had a great exercise today.
I’m happy that the Filipino owners brought this concept in Dubai. How cute this jeep is!
And just like a real jeepney, you will find different signages and humor that only Filipinos can understand.
I really thought I’ll get free food because of this. The guy didn’t think I qualify. He’s blind I guess. 🙂
Honestly, I was going to do this but I’m afraid Gibson will run away and leave me there alone. So, yeah, maybe next time.
Jolly Jeep is an eatery that sells Filipino snacks that you might probably missed back home. Here are their menu.
I immediately ordered the classic scramble. It’s a pink slush served with skimmed milk and chocolate syrup on top. Ahhh, memories!
Cole wanted some siomai. I first asked for 1 order, but ended up finishing 3 orders of shrimp siomai and 1 chicken flavored. I told you my tummy had a great exercise today.
My favorite food in the whole wide world is gotta be lugaw or congee. I can eat this everyday, morning ’til night and I won’t get over it. It can be any variety : goto, arrozcaldo, with egg or without, as long as it’s rice porridge, I’m fine with it. So it’s a no brainer that I’ll have one order of arrozcaldo when I saw that it’s available.
I put a lot of fried garlic and chili just the way I like it.
This is my nephew, Klyde, holding my egg before I cracked its shell and dropped straight to my lugaw. Wala lang, random photos! Isn’t he a cutie?
Of course, no need for any description – the famous kwek-kwek. It’s 10 dhs for 6 pieces, not bad at all. Although I would like the breading to be thinner next time.
With the amount of food we’ve eaten, plus the take-aways we ordered, our total bill was less than 130 dhs. Very budget friendly!
Overall, it was a nice experience and I’m more than happy to support this eatery because it’s owned by Filipinos. I’m glad Filipinos in UAE are venturing into businesses and they will need our support for them to get inspired and continue to grow.

Enjoy the weekend guys!
