My dear friend Yen is a frequent diner here and I have heard about this place from her since forever. Once I tried to visit but they were closed for renovation. Well, it wasn’t the time yet.
Then last Eid, I met Yen and Raquel for a quick get-together and obviously this is Yen’s restaurant of choice. Since I also need a quick Japanese craving fix, go! And I wasn’t disappointed. For only AED 98, I managed to eat all the sashimi and variety of sushi that my heart and tummy desire.
Since then, I kept on asking hubby to try it himself. We love Japanese conveyor belt and the only place that we know that has this is Yo! Sushi and we like that place. I admit that the variety of food available in Yo! Sushi is much better compared to what’s offered on Itsu’s all-you-can-eat deal but all these colored plates come with a price. It’s not cheap dining for a hearty eater.
I finally managed to force Gibson to have lunch at Itsu today. We went at the Dubai Marina branch just because I’m familiar of the area and sure that there’s covered basement parking available (we paid 10 dhs for 2 hours). They have another branch in The Palm which offers the same promo so I guess just choose the location which is more convenient for you. They seem to have the same restaurant size and interior anyways.
Itsu is easy to spot. It’s cozy and has open kitchen concept which is always a plus for me.
We’re the first customers. Lucky them 🙂
I ordered chicken teriyaki for Cole and Lance and gyoza ramen for Biel.
Not a fan of sweet dishes but this is one of the nicest chicken teriyaki that I’ve tried.
Gyoza ramen is also tasty. I’m sad that I am so full and can’t finish Biel’s left over. It deserves my undivided tummy.
Now, let’s go to reason why we came here – the all-you-can-eat sushi and sashimi. Ok, let’s set our expectation here. For 98 dhs, you shouldn’t expect that everything on their menu will be served on the conveyor belt. Obviously, they won’t but I’m satisfied with what’s served to us today. Although I noticed that there were some dishes served last time and wasn’t available today. Or maybe because last time the girls and I were there for more than 3 hours and was able to try everything Itsu has to offer.
I started with a bowl of miso soup which comes with the offer. Very good. I had 2 bowls.
Followed by something clean and light.
And then I started to turn into pacman.
I’m quite partial to salmon but I don’t mind having a plate or two of tuna.
This is what I munch on during break 😂
I love bringing Lance to our food escapades. He’s just willing to try anything and everything
I lost count how many plates we had and after that last edamame plate, I know it’s time to give up. There’s really no space left in my tummy.
After all the calories, a stroll at the Marina Walk is a must!
Few tips:
- Go there on a weekend. I haven’t tried dining here on weekdays but I can imagine that if there’s more of you eating then the variety of sushi is better.
- Take the right corner seats near the chef so you’ll be the first one to try the new dishes served. Greedy 😈
- Make sure you bring family and friends that love sushi and sashimi like you do and won’t need to order other items from the menu which seems to be on the higher price range compared to other casual Japanese resto.
