I called Gibson one fine day and asked if he wanted to meet for lunch. He doesn’t require much prodding and finally agreed to meet in Mall of the Emirates.
I’m thinking of Din Tai Fung but he said to try something new and that’s when I thought of Brunswick Sports Club.
This place is popular for their burgers and booze. I’m not fond of burgers and I don’t think having alcohol during office lunch break is a good idea but trying a new restaurant is always interesting so off we went.
Brunswick is located in Sheraton, there’s entrance through MOE.
The place is smaller than I thought and has the industrial feel just like all Tom & Serg restaurants. It has this smoke/cigarette smell so I don’t think this is a kid-friendly restaurant even during daytime. We chose to seat in the non-smoking area.
We immediately scanned the one-page food menu and I appreciate that although the selection is not extensive but it sounds all good. And besides, when you only have an hour to spare, choosing from a 20-page menu is not fun.
I don’t have any plan of ordering alcohol but for blogging purpose I took a photo of their liquor menu (zoom in please)
I think Zomato has clear menu photos. After ordering, I scanned the place.
There’s tv screen in almost every corner.
Our drinks arrived. Gibson had diet soda and I chose ‘The Sum of our Berries’. It has all the berries that I know and looks refreshing and you know what? It is refreshing. Try it!
Our food followed a few minutes later.
The kid in me wants mac-and-cheese and I ordered the adult version of it – the fried mac-and-cheese.
Not bad but not ‘I can’t remember my name’ good either. 2.5/5.
It’s a choice between buffalo wings or buttermilk fried chicken and I ordered the latter. I like it. Crispy outside, juicy and tasty inside. 3.5/5
Gibson and I shared his Surf ‘n’ Turf order. It has Angus striploin, grilled tiger prawns, fries and salad. I’m a ribeye and t-bone steak kinda girl but striploin is not bad either. The taste is good, we ordered medium and it came medium, fries were crispy, didn’t taste the greens but a salad is a salad so I don’t think I missed anything. Overall, 3.5/5
We paid 312 dhs which is quite expensive for an office lunch so I don’t think we will come here often.
I think this place is great for after office drinks with friends and not so geared for families (obviously). Unfortunately, I always bring my kids on weekends so this is a place we won’t enjoy so much.
Have you been here?
