I would like to say that the reason I booked our hotel stay is to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary.
But the truth is I reserved a room way before we went to Philippines/Hong Kong because I know that I will need another holiday to recover from my holidays.
As it turned out August 4 happens to be our church wedding anniversary.
And I now have a very valid reason for a staycation. Yes!
(Before I get condemned: we were married twice (civil and church) and years apart. Remembering dates is one of my weakness. I can’t even remember my brother’s birthday who was born 30+ years ago! Sorry Gibson and RG. It’s not you, it’s me)
I used my Airmiles points to book a room in Westin Al Habtoor but when we checked-in, the reception told us that due to on-going construction in the hotel, we were moved at W Dubai Al Habtoor City. As we’ve stayed in Westin before, I don’t mind trying W Hotel.
I read that W is generally marketed to younger crowd. It has that futuristic, modern, hip vibe.
Very us. Choz.
W Dubai Al Habtoor City’s reception is on 30th floor. Different and interesting.
And each staff has their own pod which is cool.
Check-in was swift.
And we were given our key card right away.
We went straight to our room 2314.
And as usual the kids inspected the room like QA inspectors.
As it was around lunchtime, we decided to go to Dubai Mall and have Jollibee.
I’ve been craving for Chicken Joy since we came back from holiday.
I was just savoring every bite. Hmmmnnn….
After lunch, we went back to our room and just chilled out and enjoyed it.
Even Camo the bear (Cole’s travel buddy) were so relaxed.
Around 5pm, it’s time to hit the pool.
Gibson, as usual, abstain from exposing his porcelain skin so it’s just the kids and me.
Being a guest of any hotel in Al Habtoor City, you can go to any of the properties’ pools.
Although we are staying in W Hotel, we were able to use St. Regis pool as well.
Come night time, we have our usual in-room dining ordered. After all the swimming, we usually don’t have energy left to go out.
This plate is quite expensive for AED 220
Thanks Gibson for this night photo of the canal
The following day, we had breakfast at Level Seven, swam again and checked-out at 12 noon.
Overall, it was a nice two days. The service is as good as you expect in any 5-star hotel in Dubai.
It’s another happy experience to be added on our memory bank and celebrating our 11th anniversary with our kids is more significant than if we celebrated only as a couple.
