This post is 5 months late but as they said better late than never!
My kids are not excited having their own birthday parties.
They prefer simple lunch or dinner and then receive birthday gifts.
That’s it.
Big factor on this attitude is having a mom who doesn’t like to plan party celebrations.
How ironic that my job requires me to organize meetings, dinner and events on regular basis.
I am still plagued by guilt whenever I recall that the only thing I managed on Cole’s 7th birthday is a bucket of KFC, Spinneys honey cake and spaghetti. What kind of a mother am I!?!?
In the Philippines, it is common to have major celebration of 7th birthday. And here I am just letting this milestone age passed just like that.
So for his 10th birthday, we invited our family in Dubai and celebrated Cole’s birthday at Aquaventure in Atlantis The Palm.
I booked online and availed their UAE rate of AED 195 for adult tickets and AED 170 for kids. Children below 2 gets free entrance. And since Aquaventure offers free ticket to birthday celebrant, Cole’s ticket was complimentary.
One tip: If you’re going to visit, note that you can bring 1 liter of bottled water per guest. Avail that ‘coz you know how expensive food and drinks inside the waterpark.
Adults and kids alike had a blast!
My sister-in-law Ate Grace, and our Ate V.
Notice that we were barefoot that time which you definitely CANNOT do during summer. When we stayed in Atlantis in August (the height of summer!), we had first degree burns for walking less than a minute on wet floor of Aquaventure.
Had our lunch of fried chicken, pasta, hotdog sandwiches and shawarmas.
The birthday boy had to have a cake of course!
We decided to leave around 5pm but passed by Poseidon Cafe first. As mentioned on my 25 Inexpensive things to do in Dubai post, you can visit this aquarium without paying anything.
Just make sure to tell the security that you are going to visit Poseidon cafe, and proceed confidently.
I hope it was a memorable celebration for Cole, because it was definitely for me.
I tried Leap of Faith for the first time and won’t do it again, EVER!
Didn’t dare do Poseidon slide. My heart can only endure one extreme ride at a time.
I’m telling Gibson that for our daughter’s 7th birthday, we will definitely do a big party. Cross my heart!
