Party of One Edition: Café Bateel

Party of One Edition: Café Bateel

So today will mark the start of my Party Of One Edition where I’ll post the restaurants I’ve visited while dining alone. This is mostly my office lunch-outs when I’m fed up eating sandwiches or on those days when I decide not to skip lunch. Of course, office lunch-outs are only possible if my schedule can afford a proper lunch break. Continue reading →

Pai Thai – Madinat Jumeirah

Pai Thai – Madinat Jumeirah

Gibson’s boss is in town for several business meetings and he’s very nice to extend his team’s dinner invitation to me. I thought it’s a good idea to finally meet him as well as to catch-up with Katrina, Gibson’s other colleague.

Kat made a reservation at Pai Thai in Al Qasr Madinat Jumeirah last night. Al Qasr hotel itself is very grand and beautiful. You’ll find a staff almost at every corner of the hotel. All are helpful to answer your questions and more than willing to take your photos 🙂 I would love to stay at Al Qasr one day and just take thousands of beautiful pictures.  Continue reading →

Jones the Grocer

Jones the Grocer

Strange that my sister and brother-in-law worked here before yet I’ve never dined at this restaurant until last Saturday. Jones the Grocer is an Australian home-grown restaurant and has several branches in New Zealand, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand and UAE. Here in UAE, their stores are located in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and we visited the one in Sheikh Zayed Road opposite Times Square Centre. Continue reading →

A Giveaway to Say Thank You!

A Giveaway to Say Thank You!

In just more than a week after posting my first blog post, my website has been read more than a thousand times! I received many congratulatory messages from friends as well as likes and shares on my Filipina Expat Facebook page.

I still remember the first time I wrote my first blog post. Although I have a vague idea of what to write, to put it coherently in writing without mumbling and to make sense of everything took some time. I had many moments of doubt if I’m sharing too much, and self-doubt if anyone cares what I think. Continue reading →

What to pack in your hospital baby bag?

What to pack in your hospital baby bag?

My cousin, Shayne, is 5 or 6 months pregnant and she herself is not sure how far along she is in her pregnancy. And I don’t judge her for not being 100% accurate as when I was pregnant myself, I always got confused on how I’m going to add up weeks to months. When did we start counting weeks? It was used to be just months during our mother’s time! Continue reading →

Modhesh World

Modhesh-World-2015With just few weeks left before school begins, I am thinking of activities that can make the kids’ remaining summer days more enjoyable and memorable. I want to go somewhere we haven’t been before. It’s also a good excuse for me to have something to write about. 🙂

Since hubby has this weekly basketball game at Dubai Sports World in Dubai World Trade Centre every Thursday night, he suggested that we come along and visit Modhesh World. I know it’s quite strange that Modhesh World is already celebrating their 15th edition and yet my kids haven’t been there. Well, better late than never and you know how things become bigger and better every year? I think our timing was just perfect. Continue reading →

My Dubai Beauty Haul

My Dubai Beauty Haul

I made a goal of publishing 2 blog posts a week on each of my blogs and that’s really quite a challenge. With a full-time job, driving/travel time, quality time with the kids, some adult conversation with the husband, a side hobby, and everything else in between, I don’t actually have a concrete plan on how I can squeeze in my writing into my already hectic schedule. But that’s the plan and I will stick to it as long as I can.

So while thinking of topic to discuss, I prowled my favorite lifestyle blogs to have some ideas. Well, I can be like Divasoria and take inspiration from her Glossy posts. I can share the current beauty products I’m using. But, but, but… would I look so superficial? And who cares what shampoo I’m using, right?!? I’m not a celebrity or anything. But then, I realized it’s my blog and I can just write anything that I can think of. And I need something to write for goodness sake! Continue reading →

Soy Restaurant – IBN Battuta Mall

Soy Restaurant – IBN Battuta Mall

It was a choice between having our lunch at Jones the Grocer or go straight to Ibn Battuta mall where we need to return our tablets for repair (but no, Geant didn’t accept the tablets 🙁 ) I am craving for Jones’ prawn linguini for weeks now but we’re undecided because of parking issues. When we saw the long line of cars on the exit going to Jones the Grocer, we knew that   we just need to visit some other day.

It was an easy decision to eat at Soy. My husband didn’t need convincing and my son, who now has his preferred restaurants and menu type, also agreed. We’ve eaten here several times and tried most of the menu. I’m giving you some idea of what to expect when visiting this restaurant. Continue reading →
