I’ve written this post in January and never got the chance to publish, wtf!
I thought of re-writing it but it would take me another 3 months to push that publish button so let me just post this once and for all. đ Please forgive the Happy New Year greeting…

Happy New Year!!!
I have several plans this year and one of them is becoming a better blogger. Better in the sense that I will write often and consistently. Last year’s plan was to post one article per week but I am being realistic this year and will do twice a month. If I write more than that then I’ll pat myself at the back for a job well done.
I will again share my experiences on some of the restaurants that I tried. If you noticed, I stopped doing dining reviews sometime last year because most of the places I visited were my frequent go-to restaurants. I felt that you’ve been there before so what’s the use of sharing.
But a friend told me that she appreciates reading my dining experiences since she gets to know new restaurants. And I’m like, these restaurants have been here forever but it’s still new to her. It made me realized that we can always learn something different from each other.
Going back to the topic, my dear friends and I always meet before Christmas for much needed catch-up. This year, I was given the task to find a restaurant venue because they probably know that I love searching for places that serve good food with matching great price. Good thing that I read Cuddle and Crumb‘s experience and IÂ thought it’s worth a try.
It fits all the criteria we are looking for
- It has seafood
- Has grilled section
- Family friendly
- Good value
So one fine Friday last month, me, Sheila and Raquel, together with our respective lovies met at Flavours Restaurant located in Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham in Jumeirah Beach Residence for brunch.
I am not expecting much from this buffet considering that it’s only priced at 125 dhs. Decent buffet brunches in the city usually start from 200 dhs so this is truly a bargain. And we used our Entertainer vouchers so it’s super value!
The only grudge I have with this place is the confusion with kid’s pricing. I read that children below 12 years old is free but when I called the restaurant, I am told that only kids 6 and below is free and children from 7-12 pay 50%.
Well, still not bad.
But when we were paying, they charged for my daughter who is 4 and Raquel’s daughter who is 6. When I questioned it, we ended paying for Raquel’s daughter.
I know that I can insist to remove it from the bill but I won’t argue for just 60 dhs.
But to be honest, it left a bad taste. I don’t like the feeling of being cheated. Anyways, if you don’t have children and can disregard this issue, then I can recommend Flavours to you.
True that the spread is not that extensive and not all cuisines are represented but if you like barbeques and like a chilled relax atmosphere, then this place is for you.
The starters/appetizers are extensive! I love the choices.
There’s sashimi, sushis and rolls.
The cold cuts and cheese spread are extensive
Seafood lover will have a feast!!!
If you love barbecues, then you’ll enjoy this place. Choices of meat, fish and seafood are available and ready to grill.
Kids can run around and enjoy the weather (assuming it’s not 50 degrees outdoors)
And the parents, after the food coma, can also chill out and goof around
