I was invited by Doc Gelo on his 10th blogging anniversary dinner sponsored by Lemongrass. If you don’t know Doctor Angelo Santos, do yourself a favor and follow his adventures on Instagram here.
The first media event I attended was the launch of his travel book – People. Places. Memories. (which is still available at Amazon) and the Filipino bloggers I met were all very warm and fun.
Doc Gelo’s intimate dinner consists of small group of Filipino bloggers and Instagrammers who have thousands of followers each. I don’t know why I was invited to that bunch of talented people considering I only have less than 300 friends on my Filipina Expat IG account.
For sure Doc Gelo sees something in me. Choz.
Anyways, considering that they have massive followers on social media, these guys are so down-to-earth, obviously witty and surprisingly fun.
I rarely attend media events during weeknights but Doc Gelo’s invite was personal and I really like him – truthful, inspiring, relatable – so I went.
Straight from the office, I went to Lemongrass Thai Restaurant in Oud Metha and the first one to arrive. I have worked in Oud Metha for 3 years from 2005 and I obviously been to this restaurant before.
And after almost more than decade, it still has the same homey atmosphere.
And the food, oh the food, are still glorious!
We started our meal with some Thai milk tea. Hello Doc!
I didn’t get the name of this appetizer since I was obsessively munching on that fried kangkong.
Then one by one the main courses started to arrive.
Some beef dish. I’m concentrating on eating that I didn’t pay much attention on the dishes’ names.
How can you dine in a Thai restaurant and not eat this rice sitting in a pineapple? Sorry for crappy photo.
I was so full I’m on the verge of food coma. Good thing they offered some coffee and tea to give my tummy some space for the dessert
And my fortune cookie tells this…
I really enjoyed the food, and the company. I could maybe join some Filipino gatherings next time. Let’s see.
Thank you Doc Gelo for inviting me and congratulations to 10 years of blogging! More to come! 🙂
