Last part of our trip and more…

I know I’m very late on sharing the last part of our European trip. If you missed it, here’s the Vienna trip, my impression of Venice and my husband’s first ever post about our Florence experience.

The only pending is our Pisa daytrip and Rome. The reason why I’m dilly-dallying is because our Pisa trip lasted only for few hours and we only went to the tower, bought some souvenirs, ate hotdog sandwiches, Gibson bought a shirt and that’s it. Nothing too exciting! We were there past 10am and back in Florence around 2pm. Of course, you can enjoy Pisa if you will really explore the place but since we don’t have enough time, seeing the tower is more than enough for us. In the meantime, let me share some photos.

This will be your view from the train from Florence to Pisa. Photos taken by Gibson.DSC04348_Fotor

Until when do you want to stay in Dubai?

Until when do you want to stay in Dubai?

I’m taking a break from my travel posts because I’m itching to let this out. After coming back from our short holiday, I am again on reflection mode (hubby calls it senti mode but reflection mode sounds more mature and intelligent 🙂 ) Is it that time of the month again? Maybe. But entertaining these thoughts give me some kind of direction on how I want to lead my life. It draws me back to what I really want hence having these moments re-focus me to my goals.  Continue reading →

Florence Adventure

Message from Lyn: I always nag the hubby why he never helps me with the IT part of blogging. Although I’m an IT grad, I thought it was a mistake and he is the one who loves this techy stuff. But I realized something. Despite the fact that he doesn’t really help with the technical stuff, he is my grammar nazi. As I always say, I am not a writer and doesn’t pretend to be and I’m so lazy to proof read most of the stuff I’m writing so having him to point out some unacceptable grammar mistakes is always helpful (although I don’t care most of the time. I know you’re reading my blog not because of my writing prowess but just because I’m witty. Choz lang!)

During times that I’m not in the mood to write or so busy at work, I wonder if I can let others guest post. And I always ask Gibson to try.

Finally it happened. So without further ado, here is our Florence adventure in the eyes (and words) of Gibson.

Why a European holiday is a great idea while you are in Dubai

Why a European holiday is a great idea while you are in Dubai

Don’t be fooled. I also have the weirdo poses while thereWhy a European holiday is a great idea while in Dubai

Before I continue our Austria-Italy trip (you can read the Vienna adventures here, and the Venice on this post), it would be useful if I can give some details on how we prepared for our holiday because ‘sharing is caring’.

I truly believe that traveling to foreign countries is not only for those who have money. Well, yes, you will need cash to buy your tickets, find a place to stay and to eat, but you won’t need a LOT of money to enjoy other countries. The only thing you will need to have is the DESIRE. If you want it, you will definitely have/experience it. NO DOUBT. I know, I’m channeling my Oprah-esque lines here.

Viva Venice

We reached Venice on  Sunday morning after taking a night train from Vienna. We took Trenitalia’a Frecciargento 4-berth couchette so the four of us could sleep together. Click here if you want to know more of our Vienna trip. I was quite concerned that my kids will not have enough sleep so I brought small pillows as their ‘security object’. I think it helped as they were sound asleep and only woke up an hour before our arrival in Venice. I should have brought one for myself, too. I only slept for around 3 hours out of the 12-hour journey. Hello eyebags!

It was foggy when we arrived and it makes a romantic setting for picture taking. Very Twilight.

Family pic with the no-ligo, no-suklay, no-makeup look.

Filipino Mafia goes to Vienna!

I have so many stories to tell but I don’t have enough time. I started writing this inside the train from Florence to Rome. It’s around one and half hour trip and should be enough to write at least one blog post. Post note: It turned out I wasn’t able to finish this post in one sitting. But I’ll try to write as much as I can today before I go back to work tomorrow.

The preparation for this trip started as early as November last year. My sister Jholen and I were thinking of going on holidays and we first thought of visiting London then Paris but the plan was cancelled because of terror attacks in the city. I suggested visiting Italy again but this time, we would like to visit several cities as well. I can’t remember now why we ended up landing first in Vienna, I think it’s because Qatar Air doesn’t fly to Venice directly so we looked onto the map and see what other country is near Italy. We then asked my dear friend Milet and her hubby Gerald if they would like to join us. Without second thoughts, they said yes. I knew this would be a fun trip!

Random thoughts

This time last week, I was telling hubby how come I don’t feel excited of our upcoming Austria and Italy trip. Something might be wrong with me. Well, it’s a completely different story now as I even set my out-of-office on Outlook last Sunday, considering we’re only flying tomorrow night. Exag! Continue reading →
