Strange that my sister and brother-in-law worked here before yet I’ve never dined at this restaurant until last Saturday. Jones the Grocer is an Australian home-grown restaurant and has several branches in New Zealand, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand and UAE. Here in UAE, their stores are located in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and we visited the one in Sheikh Zayed Road opposite Times Square Centre. (more…)

Soy Restaurant – IBN Battuta Mall
It was a choice between having our lunch at Jones the Grocer or go straight to Ibn Battuta mall where we need to return our tablets for repair (but no, Geant didn’t accept the tablets 🙁 ) I am craving for Jones’ prawn linguini for weeks now but we’re undecided because of parking issues. When we saw the long line of cars on the exit going to Jones the Grocer, we knew that we just need to visit some other day.
It was an easy decision to eat at Soy. My husband didn’t need convincing and my son, who now has his preferred restaurants and menu type, also agreed. We’ve eaten here several times and tried most of the menu. I’m giving you some idea of what to expect when visiting this restaurant. (more…)

25 Inexpensive places to visit in Dubai (Part 1)
Dubai is known as the city of gold and one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Millions of people flock to Dubai to experience its flashy and luxurious lifestyle. It is just been recently named among the 10 most expensive destinations in the world by TripAdvisor.
Being an expat for more than 10 years here, I can say that I have tried almost everything the city has to offer. I say “almost” as Dubai keeps on changing that there’s always new activity to try everyday aside from the fact that most of them require a fee that is not so easy on the budget.
Having relatives visiting us often, I learned to find activities to do and places to visit that won’t break the bank and I’m giving you a lowdown of things you can try without spending a fortune.
