I’m not very fond of arranging parties. I prefer sit-down dinners and just chat with handful of guests.
So I never really had big birthday celebrations for my kids (bad mum!)
But of course I want to make sure they will feel special on their day.
We usually dine on their fave restaurant, we prepare party bags for their class, and they can choose their own gift.
For Biel’s 5th birthday, we started the celebration 1 day before her birthday.
We picked her up from school and went straight to Dubai Festival City.
Had lunch at Cheesecake Factory (no photos).
Followed by the much-anticipated trip at Build-A-Bear.
This excitement to have their own bear started when they watched a Youtube video of some random kids’ purchasing their own Build-A-Bear.
I then showed Gelo The Bear to Cole and he immediately declared that he wants to have his own travel buddy.
I reminded him that it’s not his birthday.
He promised he won’t ask anything else on his 11 birthday next year (January) and the bear will be considered as an early gift.
Fine!
Choosing their bear didn’t take that long.
Cole had Camo the bear.
Biel chose Belle of Beauty and the Beast.
And my nephew, Klyde, who is visiting us from the Philippines wants a red Power Ranger.
They filled it in with cottons which the staff said can be refilled for life in any Build-A-Bear branch.
They get to shower their bear, dress them up and name them.
At the cash counter, after all the accessories and what nots has been counted, the final bill for 3 bears is AED 995. I hope these bears will last a lifetime. So expensive!
The following day, it’s Chuck-E-Cheese day with our Dubai family! Games, pizza and lots of calories!
We burned off some sugar by having some retail therapy. How can you be at Outlet Mall and not shop. It’s a sin!
I bought few bags from Aldo, just 5 😃
If all the eating that day was not enough, we went straight to Pampangenos in Madina Mall in Al Qusais for dinner.
We ordered 2 types of their family package
That comes with Chicken Tinola
Of course we had to order something long for long life – Pansit Malabon
And you can only have this fish buro if you order daing na bangus. My new fave!
And if you think Biel’s birthday celebration is over, you’re mistaken.
She had a small party with her class the following Sunday.
Preparing her birthday bags last Saturday.
Happy Birthday my princess. Please stay sweet, loving and fun. I won’t get tired receiving cards from you everyday and always remember that mum will forever be here for you. I love you!
