Day 4

We really dedicated our last day on visiting places that kids will enjoy. As I said earlier, Cole never complained once with all the walking we did but I can sense he had enough of the culture. So we had breakfast first at the Pantheon area.

We started the day with a visit to Bioparco di Roma. We took a taxi from our apartment in Pantheon to the zoo. We paid around EUR 10 for taxi fare.

Entrance fee is EUR 15 for adults and EUR 12 for children upto 12 years of age and above 1 metre. We paid extra EUR 3 each for access to “Alien Fish” area. You can see the further details here

We really enjoyed the zoological park. Most animals are up close.

There is a ‘reptile area’ where the room is set in certain temperature for the animals inside. We didn’t take much photos because our lenses got foggy.

We availed the train that went around the zoo area.

The highlight of the event was Gibson finally meeting his twin. 😂😂😂

After the zoo, we again took a cab and asked to be dropped at Explora, a children’s museum in Rome. We purchase the tickets right there and then and paid EUR 8 each for Gibson, Cole and I. Biel got free admission again.

Museum operates a ‘timed-ticketing system’. Entrance is per shift and access is limited to 1 hour and 30 minutes. We didn’t have to wait long for our turn, our arrival was just perfect and we were included on the next batch entering. Had we arrived a few minutes later, we will need to wait for another 1.5 hours. Although there a mini restaurant and cafe inside so you can really easily pass the time.

It’s not only the kids whose enjoying.

From the museum, we walked towards Piazza del Popolo

And visited the church just beside Leonardo da Vinci Museum. The church seems to be popular but I didn’t get its name.

Heavy rain started pouring but being the girl scout that I am, I have raincoats for the kids and umbrella for Gibson and I. We continued walking towards Spanish Steps and stopped from time to time to shop. Gibson, being a male version of Imelda, bought a rubber shoes. And how can you be in Italy and not buy a leather bag? We bought 3 small ones from a leather bag store and found a shop selling knick knacks and souvenirs. We completed our shopping from that store.

We finished our touristy activities on our 4th day. Our flight the following day was at 3:20pm but I don’t know what happened to me, I mistaken it at 1:20 pm. So we were at the airport too early for our flight and I end up buying more food items for souvenirs.
