Who are you?
I’m Lyn Joy Talag-Cruz, a former expat in Dubai. Wife to Gibson and mom to two very happy kids. After being in Dubai for almost 15 years, the family and I are back in the Philippines for good. My dream since I became a mom!

Why did you start blogging?
You know the feeling that you want to say a lot things but no one listens? Hehe. I love reading lifestyle blogs even of ordinary people and I thought I can share my thing or two. It’s a free world!
Nowadays, I write more at my other website The Wealthy Pinay and I recommend that you read my blogs if you want to be abundant in all aspects of your life. Promise is not a scam, haha
Are you a writer?
No, and if you are a grammar nazi, please forgive me. I don’t have time to proofread and correct. But who knows? I can be a writer someday, jejeje!
Post edit: OMG! I actually published my own book. Dreams really do come true. Get your copy HERE
Do you pay for all your visits to restaurants and hotels?
How I wish it’s sponsored. But yes, I pay everything (for now). But if someone wants me to review their place, I’m open to it. But be warned that I will be honest. For sure I will appreciate the invitation but I will give my honest feedback. Honesty is the best policy! Seriously, I value my reputation and my reader’s trust.
How often do you write?
As much as I want to write new post every day, my katawang lupa (physical body) won’t be able to take it. I work freelance, kids to attend to, husband to please (in mysterious ways :)) and side business to handle. So, weekly update is my goal but don’t curse me if I can’t live to that. Tao lang! And remember I have another blog (thewealthypinay.com) and I have to update that too!
There are some non-english words on your blog, we cannot understand.
Ahhh… those alien words are actually Tagalog or Filipino (why Filipino? isn’t that the people? Yes, actually. But you know like French people speaks French. I’m so bright!) and since I am a proud Pinay, my posts will be peppered with Filipino slangs. Can’t do anything about it. But since I’m nice I will give you a glossary of my frequently used gay tagalog words:
Charing / Charot / Echos – just joking; not true
Bonnga – Fabulous
Karir – something that I worked hard for. It’s like career but in a different context.
How did you make it in Dubai?
Simple, I took a plane bound to Dubai and tada!!! Ok, not funny. Seriously, just like everyone else, I came on visit visa and started with a low-paying job. Due to my skills (naks!) and good personality (double naks!), I was promoted to a higher post. I also changed companies and shifted my career from Admin to Human Resources. Life might have been good to me because I always believe that everyone can make it big. It is your choice to make it happen. Read my other blog if you want more inspiration. But please don’t ask for any financial assistance 🙂
What’s your dream?
World Peace. And to be a healthy, happy, USD millionaire.
Can you help me start a blog?
You know what’s better? I can teach you how to monetize your knowledge and skills! Check it out here –> http://lynjoytc.com/teach-and-earn/
What camera are you using for your photos?
Most of the time, just my iPhone 7. I’m too lazy to carry a big camera everywhere I go.
Your photos are not really good.
I know, I’m working on it. I don’t have an ‘eye’ for these things and still trying to learn.
How can I get in touch with you?
If you want to promote your blog or business, or just want to say hello, please drop me a mail at

Hi Lyn, I came across your blog about St Expeditus and I am as well a believer in his miracle.
Amen to that!
Hi Ms. Lyn! I found your blog while reading online about ways on how I could make it big in Dubai, just like you. 🙂 Right now I do not have any connection in Dubai, save some new friends I met online while waiting for my passport, but I am eager to find ways as well and I will gladly take on any job there too 🙂 Thank you for your blog, it gives so much information and hopefully when I have my own expat story, I can write for others too. I am eagerly waiting for my time! Thanks a lot for your write-ups. Alli
Hi Alli! All the best and I hope you’ll enjoy Dubai as much as we did 🙂
